Memorial service for Mrs. Martha Blassingame, 81, of Sulphur Springs, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Spur On Ministries with Brother Mike Fletcher and Brother Jake Jones officiating.
Martha Jo “Marty” Blassingame was born on April 28, 1939 in Denton, Texas to the late William Stubblefield Doyle and Hazel Ruth (Erwin) Doyle. She was a resident of Wood County for 38 years before moving to Sulphur Springs with her daughter. Martha was Christian and member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to being a devout Christian, Martha was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Of all things, she loved taking care of her grandbabies the most. When she wasn’t tending to the great-grandbabies or eating pizza with the grandkids, she could be found watching western or Hallmark movies, or any sport on tv. She loved her Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks. Martha was a proud military supporter and loved to welcome soldiers home at the airport.
Martha went home to Jesus Friday morning, February 5, 2021. Her family will always treasure the memory of their mother's laughter and sweet but sassy personality as she guided them through life.
In Heaven, Martha joins her father and step mother, William and Marie Paclish Doyle; mother and step father, Hazel and Hack Richey; husband, Bob Blassingame; one son, Joseph Bates; brother, Bill Doyle; great nephew, Tanner Stone Higgins; nephew, Lennie Simpson; and niece-in-law, Karla Simpson.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Ashlea Crutcher of Dallas, Lee Jay “Bubba” Kinlaw of Liberty City, Lorie Doyle Disinski and husband Richard of Hurst, and Jenny Lucas of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Betty Faye Higgins and husband Jerry of Hurst, and Debra Legate and husband Steve of Point; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
