Vernon J Williams

1944 ~ 2019 (age 75)

Vernon J Williams, age 75, passed away peacefully on Septemmber 22, 2019 at home in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas. He was born May 16, 1944, in Coatesville,Pa. to Vernon E. Williams and Eleanore Hilton. He was a 1962 graduate of S. Horace Scott High School, where he played saxophone with the band. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Clements, on August 5, 1963.

He started his career as an Elevator Helper and rose through the ranks to become the Branch Manager. Before officially retiring he became an Instructor for The National Elevator Industry Union School.  

He built a Custom motorcycle, re-buildt and customized cars and trucks and built a Zenair Zodiac airplane from plans in his spare time; the last of which is still in service to this date. Vern served in the Air Force for four years and recently was a volunteer fire fighter with Holly Lake Ranch Fire Dept. in Texas.  He was awarded the fire departments Top Hand award in 2014 and again 2018.

While Vern hadn’t planned on having children, he felt truly blessed for all of his girls, aka The Brat Pack. 

Vern was survived by his wife, Joyce ; his Aunt, Grace Haverly of New York, his sister, Patricia Jameson of Gilmer,Tx; his daughter and son-in-law Anita & George Rivera of Huntington Beach, Ca.; his daughter Jean Cutler of Dallas, Tx; his daughter Teri Costello of Plano,Tx  his daughter Nicole Williams of Frisco,Tx, and his adopted Daughter Lydia Duncan of Tustin, Ca  His grandchildren, Angela Scheetz & Alex Rivera, Hope Cutler, Samantha Watts, Sean Costello and Marcus Fierro; his great grandchildren Gabriella Rivera, Aiden and Mikey Watts; Also his beloved cat Buffy who stay by his side night and day till the end.

Vern was a problem solver that treasured helping others to learn. Family, friends, and other’s whose lives Vern touched are invited to the Celebration of Life, from 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 28 2019, at the Holly Lake Volunteer Department, (Firehouse) to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
